Our most advanced public body partners wish to escape the trappings of FOIA altogether. No, we cannot change the law, nor would we. Instead, selected public body partners share their info with our requesting partners regularly under the massFOIA Taxonomy Project. 

Rather than request information by FOIA which involves lawyers, liability, and legal fees, massFOIA Escapes send regularly recurring updates of agreed types. We distribute that to our partners who will no longer inquire under FOIA absent investigation into wrongdoing or need for legal protection.

In that way, our Public Body partners escape FOIA.

The following is a regularly recurring FET to an Illinois village. Once the village masters the taxonomy (an approved data delivery structure), it is far easier to produce regularly than FOIA requests and far cheaper.

(2) Employee payments by Illinois Comptroller Accounting Code
– Include totals of how much paid to FT and PT employees
– List names, titles, amounts
(3) Revenue Collected by Source and Illinois Comptroller Accounting Code
e.g. Property Tax, Local Sales Tax, Utilities Tax, Communications Utilities, State Income Tax
also: Federal Sources, Licenses & Permits Revenue, Charges for Services (e.g. water, gas, electric, transit, sewer), interest
(4) Expenses paid by Illinois Comptroller Accounting Code
This will include those not listed above (since those are vendors/employees)
(5) Ordinance Violation Letters sent
-list with date, violation, violator name, violator address
(6) New Ordinances approved
(7) Active License/Permit Applications and status (new/pending/approved/rejected)
(8) List of Delinquent Water Bills
-name, total, address, days delinquent as of date prior to report
9) Documentation of other enterprise funds, (such as water funds).
